Needing an escape to the country, then look no further then considering staying in one of the two fully off grid architecturally designed Glasshouses at Avion Retreat. Located in the gorgeous Tweed region of Northern New Wales this luxury farm stay adults only retreat will surprise and delight you.
Firstly, the area is beautiful, Pumpenbil is located a 10-minute drive from the picturesque village of Tyalgum, a short 20-minute drive from the thriving Art Deco township of Murwillumbah and if flying into Coolangatta Airport less than a 55-minute drive.
The property has seen various transformations from timber to a dairy farm and now a small number of Brangus Cattle, grassfed of course but the biggest transformation has seen the current owners open the space for guests to stay on site.
With 150 acres there are plenty of spaces for you to discover and enjoy on your own or together. The owners have worked hard on curating farm to table local produce of meals and love to showcase what the area has to offer. The Continental Breakfast which is included was huge as was the Sunset Platter and Gourmet BBQ Platter for 2 we ordered (which could have fed 4) so you will not go hungry that’s for sure and the selection of beverages to purchase are equally impressive.
The Glasshouses themselves have all the mod cons but the absolute delight was the outdoor bath on the deck, a favourite of mine. Aside from the gorgeous cows they were the only sounds we heard, loved the quiet and it was a joy to sit and read in this environment.
Really appreciated having our own Golf cart to drive around the property in during our stay but of course if you want to venture further afield the quaint village of Tyalgum is not far away. The General Store does amazing coffee, and you’ll meet the nicest staff. Treat Studio right next door offers incredible massages/facials with a small but welcoming retail space (should not be missed). If you are in town on a weekend, then a must do is Tyalgum Gelato Shop and if you are in town on the last Saturday of the month there is always the Tyalgum Village Artisan and Craft Market. Be sure to also stop in at Tyalgum Hotel and enjoy a beverage under the verandah or in the Beer Garden. The country hospitality in this family friendly environment is welcoming.
Shonnae and Jamie have created a truly relaxing space for their guests to come and unwind, reconnect or if travelling alone to just take some much-needed time out for yourself in a beautiful location.
