Luxury Mini Vacay – Gold Coast

Well life just got a bit more fancy on the Gold Coast, we spent a weekend this month checking out the newly refurbished JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa. The $35 million refurbishment coincided with the fresh new rebranding of the hotel from Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort and Spa to form part of the highly successful JW brand. All rooms plus hotel general areas have been totally upgraded giving the place its tranquil and luxurious feel.

On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Front of House Staff with a Lavender Tea – Welcome Drink which tasted delightful.

One of my favs at this property has to be the saltwater lagoon with it’s sand beach and tropical fish that YES you can snorkel and swim with! Masks and Snorkels are available to hire at the Watersports Kiosk or bring your own. During the renovations all aquatic life was relocated to Sea World where in keeping with covid protocols enjoyed their own tank and swimming area before lovingly returned to their old home with a new look. Bonus, due to the fish life in the pool the temperature must stay heated to help keep these cute guys stay warm and happy.

Kids love the waterslide that is still on site and for the bigger kids, well you can always pre-book a cabana kick back with a cocktail, nap, read a book and if you feel peckish order at the bar and your meal will be cooked in the retro caravan on site and when ready bought to you to enjoy.

We stayed in a King Mountainview room that offered great views of not just the Gold Coast Hinterland but also the many canals that flow around Surfers Paradise, skyline views at night of the city were also magical. The room was very spacious, and we loved sitting on the balcony at dusk with a beverage.

Chapter & Verse was our venue of choice for a bite to eat for dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed the acoustic performance of the local performer.

Located a short walk to the Surfers Paradise Tram stop, the beach is a mere 10 minute walk. Some great dining options in house to try like Misono and Citrique. Alternatively take the 8 minute walk to Budds Beach, a locals hidden gem and enjoy the food and beverages during the day from Bumbles Café. You might enjoy a Stand Up Paddle lesson or hire from the awesome team at Go Vertical

For a treat, order breakfast in – scrumptious!

Great for a mini vacay and already looking forward to going back to stay again 😊
