Aquaduck – Gold Coast

Have you ever tried this local Gold Coast product? If not, you should!

Australia’s first amphibious bus city tour. This local family owned business has been operating in Queensland’s iconic Gold Coast since 1996 and offers a one-hour tour taking in the sights of Surfers Paradise and it’s surrounds via road and on the water.

We check in at the Aquaduck office conveniently located at 36 Cavil Avenue, Surfers Paradise. Our Guide advises it’s time to board our vessel and walks us across the road where we are greeted by the smiling yellow duck beak painted at the front of the vessel. The Aquaduck immediately makes you feel happy and we soon board. Safety briefing for everyone once on board. If you are chartering the vessel for an event and staying in Surfers Paradise, chat with the wonderful Sales staff about having the vessel collect your group from their hotel accommodation.

Being a Gold Coast local even I was surprised about the amount of information I learnt whilst on this tour. Both the Captain and First Mate provide commentary about the local area from everything to the history, landmarks, and natural wildlife. Another surprise was in one hour how much ground was covered. What a great way to see Surfers Paradise, enjoy the ocean views from the local surf hang out at Narrowneck, drive to Main Beach, Tedder Avenue, Marina Mirage and on the Gold Coast Canals.

How cool a bus that turns into a boat, and just like that we are cruising the gorgeous Gold Coast waterways, checking out multi million dollar homes (imagining ourselves entertaining in these waterfront properties) and just enjoying the sea breezes and spotting wildlife. Loads of different bird species, fish jumping in and out of the water, no dolphins today but I am assured they have been spotted before.

Even the kids get to drive on the water with the Captain and at the end of the tour receive their own Captains certificate. I feel this tour offers something for everyone Adults and Children. Please ensure you do a potty stop prior to your tour as once it commences you’ll need to wait till you return back to your starting point but that said it is only 60 minutes but what you will learn and see in that time considering the cost I feel represents very good value for money.

The tours departs daily at regularly intervals throughout the day and they even offer multi lingual audio headsets in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Korean.
