Christmas catch up with friends, so very grateful to have this opportunity to see our dear friends and spend time with them but when the decision came to a venue that was somewhat outdoors, fun and Covid safe we put our thinking caps on, did our research and settled on Topgolf Gold Coast.
This is a state of the art golf driving range. The golf balls are micro-chipped, so they record the distance and speed of each ball. There are 11 targets on the range 18 – 219 metres away and then every section has a reader that detects the microchip in the ball. The reader then computes your score based on the accuracy and distance of the shot and sends this to the score board in your bay. Genuis! 3 levels so there is an abundance of space, booths where your group can play, relax, eat and drink so it was the perfect venue for a catch up.
It does not matter if you play golf or not as everyone is welcome, even the little ones. It was lovely to see families there as well. There are several options to choose from. We opted to book a bay for 2 hours. This secured booths for our number of people attending and a guaranteed time frame to play. Bonus, unlimited soft drinks for those who like the fizzy stuff, redeemable food and beverage credit and lifetime membership.
Staff could not have been more helpful with Covid safe advice, checking in procedures, food & beverage service and explanation of how to play, use the equipment and what to do. Topgolf Gold Coasts food menu includes US inspired finger foods like Buffalo Wings, Hot Dogs to Burgers, Sliders, Salads and Desserts with a children’s menu too. I enjoyed the gluten free Marg flat bread – Napoli sauce, mozzarella and bocconcini cheese and fresh tomatoes.
The competition in our group was tough and for those of you like me who are terrible on the golf driving range I still found it so much fun and a good laugh. The venue is also suitable for those with accessible needs. If you are driving, loads of car parking available but Topgolf also offers a shuttle bus service from Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise, Helensvale Railway Station that you do need to book and pay for online however I am unsure of costs for this. Lots of helpful security staff ensuring everyone is practising Covid safety and the venue does have a Covid update on their website on how to play to safely.
