The Scenic Rim

This beaut area encompasses a large area of Southern Queensland and is lush with eco retreats, a nature lovers delight with World Heritage listed rainforests, national parks and a foodies haven. Conveniently located a one hours drive from both Gold Coast and Brisbane, the Scenic Rim can be visited for a day, weekend getaway and longer.

The accommodation is endless from Hotels, Apartments, B&B, Cottages, Farm stays, Retreats and Lodges. We opted for Greenlee Cottages as we were looking for a country getaway offering cosy accommodation but with up-to-date stylish finishing’s and the opportunity to walk and enjoy the outdoors. This property did not disappoint. The area is gorgeous!

The property is a working Macadamia farm and producers its own Honey. Nestled in the foothills of the Darlington Ranges, the lovely township of Canungra is less then a 15 minute drive away. Greenlee has 3 self-contained cottages on site all named after native tree species found on the property. Explore the Canungra Creek and grounds with the opportunity to see local Australian wildlife including different birds species or borrow the free bicycles and ride around the surrounding area.

Loved the Breakfast basket of local goodies left in our Cottage for us to enjoy the next morning. What a great way to support more local product and showcase the regions fabulous produce. Robyn and Paul are very friendly and welcoming. You’ll be sure to have a great stay.

Check out the Eat Local Scenic Rim Locavore program which Greenlee is a member of. This program helps visitors and locals of the Scenic Rim find where to taste, buy and connect with growers.

A very short stroll from Greenlee you will find Sarabah Estate Vineyard. This lush family owned vineyard sits in the foothills of the Lamington National Park. The grounds are beautiful with quite a few different areas to enjoy with a vino in hand or dine inside.

Food offerings aplenty from the onsite wood fire pizza oven, home made Gelati and the Bistro presenting some very tasty substantial meals paired with wine offerings or undertake a tasting from the Cellar Door with the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The Oak Aged Chardonnay was my favourite. Open Friday, Saturday & Sundays.

Rich in history Canungra township, best known for Queensland’s largest Sawmill dates back to the 1880’s. Tasty food offerings from The Outpost Café – built in 1946 and well known for it’s great pies which are baked daily.

Canungra Village Markets is held on the last Saturday of every month is a great place to enjoy listening to local musicians, buy local arts, crafts, fruit and vegetables. Get amongst it and support this local community.
