Caloundra – Sunshine Coast

Its always a delight to visit another region in Queensland where the emphasis on enjoying the lifestyle of the outdoors, great beach vibes and scrumptious food plays a part in your visit. This April we visited the new Brouhaha Baringa in Caloundra’s Sunshine Coast so now you can enjoy your favourite brew without the drive into the Hinterland.

Born in Maleny the Hinterland offering does some amazing food as well but the Baringa brewery also acts as the production side and boasts a fantastic tap room and bar that offers production tours which is a great way to learn about this locally owned and operated company.

Check out their FB page for the rotating line up of food truck and music gigs. Best of all, for the non beer drinkers you can also enjoy some great Aussie Wines, Spirits and Cocktails. I enjoyed trying the Brouhaha Summer Sour Slammer, a mixture of their Stawbarb Sour, Gin and Lime served in a tall glass with ice. Very refreshing and tasty.

Enjoy a walk by the seaside and stop for a coffee at the Pavilion Kiosk. This heritage listed 1937 building sits beside the ocean pool on Kings Beach.

Predinner drinks would recommend Kings Beach Bar.  Really good cocktails and the locale is fab! Live music playing the night we visited, which really added to the atmosphere and beach vibe.

Loved dinner at Harry’s Beach Bistro. Staff were great, good size food portions and friendly locals to chat with. Pizza and Pasta with a glass of wine very nice indeed, especially sitting in the outdoor area at the back of the restaurant.

Coffee Cat on Kings had some good lunch offerings with great water views.

If you fancy a walk, take a stroll around from Kings Beach to Happy Valley, Bulcock Beach (stop for a refreshing dip in the ocean). This spotop is great for families and a little bit more protected as a swimming spot. Follow the boardwalk around to downtown Caloundra. The Caloundra Street Fair markets are on every Sunday from 8 am.

We stayed at Lindomare Apartments, which offered great access to the beach, cafes and esplanade. Apartment style accommodation, with pool and BBQ area.
