Eats & Beats – Gold Coast

Out and about this month saw some live music and dining options present themselves which was just wonderful to see, hear and eat at. Like everyone we have been starved of enjoying the live music scene and it’s been fantastic to not just support local artists on the Gold Coast but also show our support for local business’ as well.

Grandad Jack’s Craft Distillery in Miami, a long time fav of mine now has local live music playing every Saturday and Sunday arvo. Team this with a visit to HOTA’s (Gold Coasts – Home Of The Arts) Exhibitionist Bar in Surfers Paradise and enjoy the amazing views of the Gold Coast skyline from the 5th floor whilst you sip a cocktail, glass of bubbles and delight in shared plates. My favs were the Fried Eggplant with Mushroom and XO Sauce and one could not resist the Champagne Lobster Roll with vanilla pickled onion, sriracha mayo served on a Burleigh Baker Brioche Bun!

Further north why not grab an expresso martini and listen to the smooth tunes at Destino Wine Bar. Enjoyed the Mediterranean vibes that combine gourmet food, refreshing beverages and homewares shopping in the one location at Sanctuary Cove. Live music Friday and Saturday nights plus Sunday arvo. My fav was the Destino Cheese Board.

Ephraim Island, ever heard of it? Me neither and who knew we had a Chef that worked at a Michelin Star awarded restaurant as well on the GC! Executive Chef Gary Jones who originally hails from the UK and has worked in some of the world’s most amazing restaurants now calls the Gold Coast home. Combining his love for classic French cuisine and Asian influences ensures your taste buds will be dancing on the tips and sides of your tongue when you dine at Jonez on Ephraim which Gary co owns with his partner Belinda. I had the Local Spanner Crab Linguini with garlic, chilli, evoo, lemon and herbs. For dessert we shared the Scroppino – prosecco, vodka, lemon sorbet, Apple Tart Tatin & Ginger ice cream and the White Chocolate Crème Brulee. Every mouthful was incredible! Can I also add how delighted I was to finally dine in a restaurant where the table was dressed adequately. Okay I know I am old fashioned, but it just made my heart sing to see a white linen tablecloth and place settings.

For a weekend breakfast you cannot go past Three Sixty located in The Grand Hotel. The food, staff, wine and service is always excellent! In fact, we love to dine here for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Located right across the road from the Broadwater you are guaranteed to get a sea breeze. Kokonut Willy’s again part of The Grand Hotel caters to all your pub food needs. Both offer alfresco dining and are children/family friendly.

Another plant-based option on the Gold Coast you might like to try is Plants & Me in Southport. I really enjoyed my breakfast here and only a short walk to the tram stop on Scarborough Street. Menu options are varied and I found the café to be relaxing with welcoming and friendly staff. Check out their insta @plantsandme.vegan
