Always up for a beer tasting and even more so when you find out there is a brewery located in your local area. The popularity of microbreweries and craft beer on the Gold Coast in the past 5 years has seen so many great offerings spring up.
Black Hops II located in the northern end of the Gold Coast in Biggera Waters is a hop, skip and jump from Harbourtown. The company remains owned by the same amazing 3 Gold Coast lads who started their tap room in Burleigh Heads and have been brewing since 2014. This larger space with brewery and tap room has allowed the organisation to expand as the popularity of Black Hops has increased in recent years, even taking out the Champion Small Australian Brewery award in 2018.
Opening to the public in March 2019, Black Hops II allows northern Gold Coast locals and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the cool relaxed vibe of the taproom, listen to some great local music, enjoy a delicious meal from the food trucks and of course sample beers or undertake a brewery tour.
Best of all, it is a great location to catch up with family and friends to chat, kick back and enjoy beer. The day we visited I loved the eclectic mix of punters frequenting the venue – families with youngsters, couples, mates even fur babies and people of all age demographics. The staff were all welcoming and friendly even though it was busy. I tried the Mid Range Pale Ale for a starter, followed by Send It Session Ale which I really enjoyed and then a Pink Mist which has a very sharp berry flavour but it looked ever so pretty in the glass.
Northern Gold Coast offers so many great local tourism products, with Black Hops II open Wednesday to Sundays from 12 noon you could opt for an active morning of a Kayak lesson with Australian Kayaking Adventures, see the Pelican Feeding at Charis Seafoods, grab some fish and chips and enjoy them at the beautiful Broadwater or head to Harbourtown if premium outlet shopping is more up your alley then spend the afternoon at Black Hops II enjoying a tasting paddle to sample a few beers and purchase some takeaways for later as well.
